My protagonist, Danielle, is a lifetime New Yorker who is spending a few weeks in central Pennsylvania (or so she hopes) when her grandfather is hospitalized after a bad fall.

Really enjoyed that! Great imagery and descriptions--I want more!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm working hard on finishing up the novel this snippet appears in. I'll likely post a few more snippets during the fall. Stay tuned!
DeleteGreat tension! I love the woods... I live in the middle of them... and I know how beautiful and creepy they can be all at the same time. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the woods too; taking some city kids on a youth group retreat opened my eyes to how sinister woods can seem to an urbanite--and how a teen's imagination can run away with her.
DeleteVery nice! I totally recognized the wood pecker. Such a crazy sound! I used to explore the "woods" (totally not woods) behind our house. My little girl heart would pound in my chest at every noise. I loved it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your writing!
Thanks Janet! Glad to see you back in the blogosphere. Hope you are well.
