Anyway, I'll likely be tweaking this a bit more over the next few days. I still have a kink to work out with the background image. Pardon the fuzziness for now. I have a graphic designer friend helping me correct that.
How was you Labor Day weekend, friends? Do anything special?

Love the layout. Very appropriate for fall's arrival!
ReplyDeleteOh, I really like the layout. Very pretty and autumn-y. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks good! Piedmont writer can't load your blog anymore though, she gets stuck. She has a post about it today! I'm passing on the word.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the leaf. And love the fall colors in the background image as well.

Summer: thanks. I wasn't necessarily trying to go seasonal, but I'm glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteSandy: Thanks. I still see things I want to change.... I guess that's normal.
Laura: Thanks for the heads-up. It's possible this repeating background that still needs to be fixed is jamming the works for Anne. I'm hoping my friend can get it to render correctly and load more easily.
Clarissa: Thanks. The image fits well with my novel, which is about finding hope after a major loss.
I love it! Perfect for fall!
ReplyDeleteThis is quite a change: from the very cool palette to all golds and browns. Nice.
ReplyDeleteLove that leaf image, and it's so right for your blog. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI love your new look!
ReplyDeleteOh, how pretty! Everything looks great:)
ReplyDeleteStina: thanks. It's a bit busier than my old template, and it's taking some getting used to.
ReplyDeleteYat-Yee: Indeed. I couldn't find anything with a cooler palette that I liked as well. I still look at this and think: "Yellow...hmm." But this was totally the color scheme of my room in my teen years. Go figure.
Tricia: The photo rocks my world--it fits my work really well. I've kept a quiet, intellectual face here in the blogosphere, but my writing has more sass to it and it seemed time to embrace that side of myself.
Bethany: thanks! And I hope you have fun exploring Travis's site as I mentioned on your blog. He has some really insightful posts on HP!
Melissa: Thanks! I'm trying to embrace my girly side a little more.
Laurel, I adore this new look. The leaf is beautiful:)It's a very crisp, clean layout for you, good selection.
ReplyDeleteYou make me want to redecorate!
I really like this. It fits you and perfect for your 'branding,' if that is your intention for marketing purposes!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, I like it. Labor Day? I did nothing (or not much), which was absolutely perfect.
ReplyDeleteLooks very nice! :)
ReplyDeleteAngela @ The Bookshelf Muse
I like it a lot!
ReplyDeleteI like your new layout, Laurel. Fall's my favorite season and this page really gets me excited for it. We laid low for the holiday weekend and got some home improvement projects tackled. Hope yours was awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the new look! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat leaf picture is awesome. My blog is definitely simple and boring. One day I'll liven it up.
ReplyDeleteI like this; kudos on a great choice.
ReplyDeleteLove the new picture! That leaf is beautiful, Laurel. My labor day was pretty typical, but I am still exhausted. What is it about spending time with kids and fatigue? Hope your weekend went well.
ReplyDeleteLove the new look! Love these colors. Very nice:)
ReplyDeleteI love the new look. I'm trying to clean my page up a bit with the tabs at the top. We will see how that goes.
ReplyDeleteThis is really nice. Great job!
LOVE the header...perfect for your blog name, perfect for autumn. (if only it would cool down here)
ReplyDeleteI really love the new look, Laurel. :)
Love,
Lola
Great graphics for your blog, beautiful fall images. On Labor Day I celebrated my birthday! Then, I sent the boys off to school and reclaimed some creative space.
ReplyDeleteTamika: thanks so much. I'm trying to live more boldly into my calling, you might say. :-)
ReplyDeleteLynn: Thanks! I think this look says imagination, a little sass and hope in dark places--which sums up what and how I write.
Jill: sounds like ultimate relaxation--always a nice treat.
Angela: Thanks! Glad you like it.
Elle: I was a teensy sad to lose the cool colors, but this look feels so right.
Nicole: I dream of catch up on the home improvement stuff, though having company meant the house got cleaned for a change--and I had extra help!
Shannon: As I recall, yellow's your fave color, isn't it?
Jessie: simple can be great. I felt my old look didn't say YA at all, which was really a problem when I'm out in query land. My blog title seemed to call for something naturey too.
ReplyDeleteRich: (my old college buddy, yes?) glad you like it. I swear my mom had a tablecloth with a pattern just like this from the 60s. LOL.
Roxy: I sometimes think kids get their crazy energy by secretly stealing it from us. Sounds like it's a good kind of tired you've got--energy spent having fun.
Karen: thanks. They are growing on me, too.
Christine: the top tabs are often part of the design. Another thing to try to reduce clutter is create blog posts that combine some elements, post them with an older date, and use that post URL as the link. That's how my awards are now off the main page.
Lola: thanks. The new photo seemed to beg for a more snazzy header.
Mary: Yay for September birthdays--mine is later this month. School starting is wonderful, too. My daughter went back today.
Ooh...I love the new look! Excellent job, Laurel!
