  1. Congrats Carrie!

Small victories, hm. I found a skirt I really like today for only £15? That's actually a major victory (and not writing-related, I know).

Writing related would be... I'm able to sit and write much longer this week than, say, a month ago. Yay me! :)

  2. I earned a work-out class punch card for writing a short article for the local Y on community connections last year. They asked me to do it again this year. Yay, more work-out punches!

  4. Talli: bargains are always a win! And yes, yay you for finding more writing time. :-)

Mary: Sweet! I love a good barter. I was just offered another editing gig and am trying to figure out how I want to be "paid" other than straight up cash, which brings HUGE headaches taxwise where I live.

    Shannon: hope she inspires you!

T.Anne: It's not huge money, but sales to lit mags do make one feel legit as a "real" author.

Karen: Indeed. If you get a chance, please tell her on her own blog, too. Encouragement goes a long way.

  7. Little victories: I think I'm getting the hang of the new software at my dy job; my checkbook hasn't run dry before the end of the pay period; and I got an e-zine send suggestions for a revision on a short story and an invite to resubmit. I had lots of help from my blogging friends on revisions, and who knows how the next submission will go.

So sweet of you to post Carrie's awesome news. I'll have to congratulate her at her site.

  8. Nicole and Sarahjayne: you guys are the best. I'm sure Carrie will appreciate the encouragement.

Donna: sound like encouraging signs are all around. And great news about the R&R (that's revise and resubmit in editor lingo). Good luck with resubmitting!

  9. Thanks for the support, everyone!

And, if anyone else is thinking of submitting work, go check out http://www.duotrope.com/, an amazing fiction-market search engine. I wouldn't have gotten published without it!
